BRONCOS LOSE A HEART BREAKER IN SECTIONAL SEMIFINAL!
The 2025 IHSA Playoffs came crashing down at the hands of the Stevenson Patriots, as our varsity team lost 2-1 (the game was 1-1 at the end of regulation and OT, however we fell in the penalty kick shootout, 4-2).
The game was one of the most controversial games in BHS history, as two of our players were sent off in the games final 7 minutes; one for “taunting” (he waved kisses to everyone in Cook County) and the other for a very soft 2nd yellow (a tackle that involved minimal contact, if any). Both cards were extremely harsh. With only nine players on the field, our boys defended with all they had, but the final throw in of the game was flicked into the 6 yard box, finding an unmarked opponent, who smashed it into our net… with 3.9 seconds remaining. And just like that, the 8 game unbeaten streak and our 2025 season ended.
Congratulations to the team on their AMAZING SEASON!!! The playoff loss does not diminish the great growth, the memories, the journey we went through together. We should all be very proud of the way we went about every day, at practices and at games. This was a great group of young men! So… keep your heads high boys!! Be proud!
